「烏頭」（うず）は、東京を拠点とするアバン・プログレッシヴ・ロックバンドである。

愛知芸術大学で作曲を学んだ大和田千弘により2012年に結成された。

「烏頭」とは毒にも薬にもなりうるトリカブトの母塊根のこと。

この「ファルマコン」（フーコーの言うところの毒とも薬ともなるもの）の両義性は彼らの音楽をよく表している。

西洋の現代音楽やジャズの影響を受けた緻密な楽曲のうえで、相互に絡みあうような即興を繰り広げる。

エレクトリックベース奏者。翻訳／通訳。東北大学文学部哲学科美学・西洋美術史専攻卒業。バークリー音楽大学修了。 15歳で現代音楽（ジョン・ケージなど）とウェザーリポートに影響を受けベースを始める。東北大学在学中はジャズ、現代音楽、舞踏などのグループと演奏。バークリー音大在学中にジェイド・メイズ（歌）と出会い共演を開始。ボストンやシカゴなどで月20回近くの演奏を行う。1998年からは東京で活動。特に東京在住の外国人ミュージシャンと多数共演。ジャンル：ジャズ、ロック、アフリカ音楽、フリー、ハウス、地歌など。

2012年 大和田千弘(key)、佐山智英(ds)、山田裕司(gt)でバンド結成。

2015〜2018年ゲストに緒川真生を迎え活動。

2019年12月 山田裕司(gt)が脱退。

2020年1月 吉田隆一(B.Sax.)が加入。

"UZU"

[bio] "Uzu" is an avant-garde/progressive rock band based in Tokyo, Japan. In 2012, Chihiro Owada who studied musical composition at Aichi University of the Arts and Music formed the group. "Uzu" means Japanese aconite parent root which can be poison or medicine. This ambivalence of "pharmakon"(à la Foucault) well explains their music. This band plays interactive improvisations over the intricate compositions influenced by contemporary Western music and Jazz.
